Suburban Homestead

google1a0aa74311e57d9dThis is our homestead! Follow my journey of developing 10 acres of land that my wife and I own in South East Michigan into a small suburban farm.

Our goal is for our small suburban farm to be as self-sufficient as possible. Right now we have chickens, ducks, and goats.  I don’t always have the time to do everything my self, but I am interested in what is called urban homesteading and this site will document my journey.

When I first bought this property I had a lot of clearing, building and planting to do.
My house is done, and some of the cleaning and planting is done, but often times I just don’t have the time to do everything that I want.

But with the help of friends and family this year we are making big plans on the small suburban farm to start our very own market garden. We will creating new area’s for the Goats, ducks, and chickens, along with raised beds to grow vegetables. Our goal is to have our first harvest ready this summer.

Homesteading with chickens!
