Backhoe Work for the Front Porch

We have a front porch that goes all the way across the front of our house that extends out 8′.  We need concrete piers to hold up the porch and the columns that hold up the porch roof.  My wife wants the piers to be faced with brick, so we will have a mason come in and build the piers out of blocks (below ground) and brick above ground.  This was my first time using a backhoe and while I wasn’t very fast, I didn’t hit the house or break anything.

Of course the day the backhoe was available to me the wind chill was 14 degrees and I had to drive it 4 miles to our project.  That was cold.
