We decided that with 6 acres of woods and an energy efficient house a wood stove would be a good investment. Triple wall stainless steel stove pipe costs $100 /3 feet (OUCH). Since I’m putting the stove is in the basement the chimney will be in excess of $1,000 – which is more than the stove. The advantage to the triple wall pipe is it only needs 2″ clearance away from combustibles. However I’m having trouble finding out exactly what I need to go through the SIP roof panel. I don’t need anything to keep the insulation away from the pipe since the SIP has Styrofoam in the middle. Now I got it get it from the bed of the truck to the basement.
