Frogs, Toads & Snakes

Just about every time I’m out walking around doing something I see a frog or toad ( depending on how close to the creek I am). Also several times a week I see a snake if I’m in or around taller grass. These things make me feel good that the land is supporting life, that it is healthy.

The wild grapes have ripened up quite well and I’ve been cutting off sections of vines to feed to the chickens. Even though the grapes are quite tart the chickens snap them right up. They eat the leaves as well but leave the vines.

I have some bare spots that need some ground cover, I think I’m going to try a clover mix sold for deer feed plots. It is supposed to sprout really fast and can be planted in the fall.
